Research Interests

Learning & Memory Strategies in Atypical Populations
  • Do established memory strategies translate to people outside seemingly healthy populations (i.e., people with psychiatric or neurological disorders)?
  • Can learning strategies be implemented outside an educational setting and be used to further aid everyday memory in those with deficits due to aging or neurologic disease?
Learning and Memory in Sleep
  • Is there an impact of atypical sleep schedules on reconsolidation and therefore long-term memory?
  • Is memory impairment in a variety of clinical diagnoses partly due to difficulties with sleep they might experience?
Visual WM and Long-Term Memory
  • Perception has a key role in how we understand the world around us. How does our visual working memory provide a basis for our long-term memories?
  • Can we quantify whether a situation (e.g., an environment or face) is more likely to be remembered long-term?
Dopamine's Effects on Memory
  • Where is the "sweet-spot" level for dopamine to be where it improves memory but does not cause an overload of stimulation in the brain?
  • What is the pathway that the brain takes in order for dopamine to play a role in memory (attention to working memory to long-term memory)?
